This policy describes how the Meter Reads Android app
(package com.globalpacific.meterreads) handles your data.
The app is developed and operated by Tim Foster ("we", "us"). Contact:
tim.foster@globalpacificcorporation.com.
Summary
Meter Reads is a personal utility for tracking UK electricity meter readings, tariffs
and bills. All of your meter data lives on your device. We do not run any backend
servers, we do not sell or share your data with advertisers or analytics providers,
and we do not profile you.
What we collect
Google account identity — when you sign in, Google returns your
email address, user ID, display name and profile picture URL to the app. This is
used only to identify you as the account owner. It stays on the device (in
encrypted app storage) and is never transmitted anywhere by us.
Meter reading data you enter — MPAN numbers, addresses, supplier
and tariff details, day/night readings, and any photos of the meter you attach.
All stored on the device only.
App preferences — for example whether you have enabled biometric
unlock. Stored on the device only.
What we do NOT collect
No location data.
No contacts, calendar, SMS or call log data.
No advertising ID.
No analytics or crash-reporting data sent to us or any third party.
No microphone or camera access outside of the meter-photo capture screen (and
only when you tap the shutter).
Third-party services we rely on
Google Identity Services / Credential Manager — handles the
Google sign-in flow. Google's own
privacy policy applies to that
interaction.
Google Play Services (ML Kit — on-device text recognition) — used
to read digits from meter photos you capture. Runs entirely on your device; no
image data leaves the phone.
Where your data is stored
All meter data, photos, preferences and cached sign-in state live in the app's
private storage on your device (encrypted at rest by Android). We have no cloud
storage, no user database, and no way to access your data remotely.
How to delete your data
Inside the app: Settings → Reset all data wipes every stored
meter read, photo, supplier, tariff and preference. This action is irreversible.
Sign out: Hamburger menu → Log out removes the cached Google
sign-in session from the device.
Uninstalling the app removes all of the above automatically.
Meter Reads is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly
collect information from children.
Data retention
Data you enter is kept until you delete it (via the in-app reset or by uninstalling).
We have no automated retention or expiry.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, this page will be updated and the "Last
updated" date at the top will change. Meaningful changes will also be noted in the
in-app What's new section.
